Not all match-ups are created equal – some have more history behind them, or more on the line than others. We’re taking a look at the early games worth paying attention to, no matter who you’re a fan or alum of!
Week 1
- Houston at Oklahoma – Former National Championship Winning QB Jalen Hurts looks to show what he can do with his new team, but new Houston coach Dana Holgorsen has something to prove. This should be a great game!
- Oregon at Auburn – The Ducks are optimistic for a Playoff run this year behind the arm of Senior signal caller, Justin Herbert. Winning the opener against the Tigers would go along way to show they can handle a top SEC team, and pave the way for their PAC-12 schedule.
- LSU at Texas – Texas is coming off a big Sugar Bowl win over Georgia last year, and a loss to LSU at home would severely damage their playoff chances this season and their pride.
- Texas A&M at Clemson – Last year the Tigers took the game 28-26, but this is also Jimbo Fisher’s second year with his Aggie team, which should help make this one a thriller at College Station!
- Clemson at Syracuse – Syracuse is coming off a 10 win season, and for the last two years has given Clemson trouble. We’ll see if the Orange can win this crucial game at the Carrier Dome this year.
- Florida at Kentucky – Last year Kentucky broke a three-decade losing streak against the Gators, along with a 10-win season. The Wildcats are looking to build on that success this year, but not without a fight from the Gators.
- Notre Dame at Georgia – Arguably the biggest non-conference game of the season, this clash could poise either team for a CFP run.
- Michigan at Wisconsin – This is the first major Big Ten game of the season, the Wolverines and Badgers have alternated victories the last three seasons with Wisconsin due for a win.
