The World Cup: memories and relationships that last

Six weeks ago, my colleague Edward Jessie posted a photo out the window of his plane as he landed in Los Angeles for what was the first of 40+ International Sports Management, Inc. World Cup Executive Hosting events across 16 different cities and hospitality venues. The message was simple: The World Cup begins.

Today, I'm looking out the window of my own flight leaving New York after the Final, thinking about all that just came together.

What a journey.

Over the last 6+ weeks, our team produced the largest hospitality program in ISM's nearly 30-year history. Dozens of events. Thousands of guests. Countless flights, hotels, buses, venues, credentials, and moving pieces that somehow came together every single day.

But that's not what I'll remember most.

I'll remember standing alongside people from literally every corner of the globe, watching fans proudly wrapped in their country's colors, hearing national anthems sung with unbelievable passion and seeing complete strangers embrace after a goal because, for 90 minutes, they shared something much bigger than themselves.

The World Cup reminds you that while we all come from different places, sport has an incredible way of bringing people together.

I'll also remember introducing so many of our clients to an experience they had never had before. At ISM, we're fortunate to host Executive Hosting programs at more than 40 premier sporting events every year. But the World Cup is different. The atmosphere, the pageantry, the emotion, the energy...it simply exists on another level.

What made it even more rewarding was watching our clients use these experiences exactly as they were intended: creating genuine, once-in-a-lifetime memories for their most important clients, prospects, business partners, and employees. Relationships were strengthened, new ones formed, and countless conversations happened that simply couldn't have taken place elsewhere. Seeing our guests experience all of that for the first time, without them having to worry about any of the logistics, was every bit as rewarding as the matches themselves.

Of course, none of this happens without an incredible team. A heartfelt thank you to Meghan Piper, Danielle Rinehart, Matthew Kolarczyk and Lia Tzoubris who delivered the largest number of hospitality events in the shortest span of time in our company's history, and you did it with professionalism, poise, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. The amount of work happening behind the scenes was extraordinary, even if most people never saw it.

And finally, thank you to every client who trusted us to be part of your World Cup journey. It was an honor to help you create experiences your guests will remember for the rest of their lives.

The final whistle has blown. The stadiums will empty. The jerseys will go back into the closet. But the memories, and the relationships built over these past 6 weeks, will last far longer than any scoreline ever could.

Now...onto the next one!
